From the President

Welcome to the Website of the 25th Infantry Division Association, a group of men and women who are proud to have served, both in peace and war, with the Army's finest since it was constituted in 1941.

Whether you are a Historian or a Veteran of the 25th Infantry Division you can find what you are looking for by clicking on the "tabs" below. Our Association Historian has crafted an accurate summary of THE DIVISION, THE ASSOCIATION and THE UNITS that have distinguished themselves by providing the fighting strength in most of our nation's conflicts, some dating as far back as The War of 1812. This tradition continues today, with elements of the 25th Infantry Division having been the last American forces withdrawn from Iraq and several of our Brigades still deployed in Afghanistan.

This means our troops are still making history and it also means we need your help in keeping that history alive. The War on Terror has been in progress for over 10 years now and I know some of you reading this are Veterans of those actions. We need your help to do this NOW. Don't be like me and many of my Vietnam buddies by waiting over 30 years to reconnect with old comrades and memories. Believe me, it's important to fit it into your life now.

There are many benefits of membership to consider. The primary one is belonging to a group of folks who have experienced situations and events similar to yours. Share the unspoken sense of camaraderie between those who have risked all to serve our nation with our Division. Seeing that sense that transcends the generations at one of our annual reunions as the 80-year-old veteran of the Korean War bonds with the 22-year-old veteran of Kirkuk or Bagram can't be beat.

Members also receive our quarterly full-color magazine "Tropic Lightning Flashes" where we share experiences, member news, history, and keep up with the activities of our Active Duty brothers and sisters. Another benefit is our scholarship program that for more than a half century has awarded grants to the children and grandchildren of our members.

For sixty-three years an annual highlight of the Tropic Lightning year is our reunion at locations that are rotated around the country. Our reunions always offer a variety of tour attractions and activities that make the reunion a great experience not only for the Veteran, but for their friends and family as well. Our 2012 reunion will feature a Mid-West location in the Chicago area at the Marriott Oak Brook Hills Resort. Our annual golf outing will be held on their championship course that is hosting this year's Ryder Cup Tournament. We will also be sponsoring our 1st ever 5K Run to benefit the 25th Infantry Division Memorial Fund. We're expecting a record crowd, so join now, register early, and join us in the "Windy City"!

Tropic Lightning Sir,

Tom Jones
President
